URU Design, Dubai.
One practice, one team.
URU Design Services LLC is URU’s Dubai design practice. We bring architecture, interiors and landscape together, connecting experience in India with commissions in the Gulf.
URU Design Services LLC
Dubai, United Arab Emirates
URU Consulting LLP, Kozhikode · Est. 2015
A principal-led practice,
based in Dubai.
Safder Machilakath leads URU Design Services LLC as Managing Partner and Principal Designer. His approach connects design thinking with engineering knowledge, bringing the building, interior and landscape into the same conversation.
Safder holds the title Chartered Engineer (India), awarded by The Institution of Engineers (India) in 2021, in the Civil Engineering Division.
The Dubai entity extends that practice into the Gulf. Safder is based in Dubai, leads every Gulf commission directly, and brings the same core team to each UAE and KSA project. Clients work with the principal directly, in English, Malayalam or Hindi, and with someone who understands both the Gulf context and the regions many of its residents come from.
The partners behind URU.
Four founding partners, architecture and engineering under one roof since 2015.
One practice, one team.
The architects, engineers and designers who plan and deliver URU’s work across Dubai and Kozhikode.
Architecture, interiors and landscape considered together.
Our design is human-centric, biophilic and sustainable. Read how those principles shape our work, including life-stage master plans for family homes.
Integrated Total Design & Built Environment Consulting is the practice’s guiding approach. Spatial planning, materials, light, landscape and building systems need to be considered together, with responsibilities clearly agreed at the outset.
Every appointment sets out, from day one, who prepares, checks and submits each package, including approvals and engineering, so responsibilities are clear before the programme is agreed.
The Dubai practice operates as a direct extension of the parent practice. The same team works across both geographies. A client commissioning a villa in Dubai and a family home in Kerala works with the same practice, the same principal, and the same level of direct engagement, across two jurisdictions, under two appropriately structured contracts.
Architecture
Every appointment sets out, from day one, who prepares, checks and submits each package, including approvals and engineering, so responsibilities are clear before the programme is agreed.
Interior design
Spatial planning, material specification, lighting design and joinery documentation. Integrated with architecture from the first stage rather than applied as a subsequent layer.
Design coordination
Coordination of the architectural and interior intent with appointed specialist consultants. The agreed scope identifies who designs, checks and submits each package.
Landscape and master planning
Outdoor environments, planting strategy, microclimate design and master layout for larger commissions. Outdoor space designed for Gulf seasonal performance, not appearance.
The people delivering Gulf commissions.
Design collaborators across disciplines.

URU Design also offers turnkey and fit-out solutions alongside architecture, interior and landscape design. The project location, delivery responsibilities and specialist appointments are agreed in each proposal.
For clients building in Kerala from the Gulf, projects are handled through the India practice.
